AN EVENING IN THE DEAD ZONE. What an amazing night at @glasgowfilmtheatre to finally share the story of my journey from NYC to Glasgow, where I had the dream opportunity to record some songs with one of my all time favorite artists, RICO. This night was as much a celebration of the music as it was a tribute to Rico, and it was very emotional for me and those in the audience, but not without some big laughs as well. Over the next few weeks I’ll be releasing the remaining 3 chapters of the film, as well as some behind the scenes footage from my time with Rico both here and on YouTube - so stay tuned for that. But in the meantime, the album itself, DISCONNECTED_, is OUT NOW, everywhere you stream music. But if you pick it up from Bandcamp, it includes exclusive instrumental mixes of all four tracks. Links in bio etc 👾 It will take some time for me to fully process what just happened, but for now all I can say is Thank You. A tour guided by Rico through his version of the city, where everyone wears black. At Glasgow Film Theatre on 23 March I’ll be sharing stories from my time with Rico, showing footage from the studio sessions, and revealing the world premiere of the accompanying neon-drenched short film I produced alongside the album. The tracks were produced by my musical hero, the legendary Glaswegian alt-rocker RICO, whose albums have had a profound influence on me throughout my life. devastated this week over the news of Rico passing away. one of my all time favorite music artists for almost two decades, and more recently (and importantly), a great friend. he pushed me to go harder than I thought possible with my own music, really diving in and taking it seriously in a way I’d never experienced before as an artist. unbelievably wise and inspirational, he raised the bar in what I expect from myself creatively moving forward. you need to check out his albums Sanctuary Medicines and Violent Silences. I’ve always seen his music as the missing puzzle piece in the late 90s/early 00’s alternative/triphop/industrial web… but it also stands out as something totally his own. play it loud.
